An innovative and rapidly expanding landscape architecture studio in New York City is looking for a skilled  Studio Director to join their leadership team. The studio is currently engaged in several high-profile commercial, mixed-use, and park projects and seeks an experienced professional to play a key role in directing and managing teams while contributing to the success of new and exciting ventures.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership to oversee operations, project management, and team development in a dynamic and creative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the CEO, Managing Partner, and Global Director of Operations.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of project managers and designers while fostering strong client relationships.
  • Enforce office protocols and maintain operational standards.
  • Oversee contract negotiation, pricing, and overall project cost management.
  • Manage contracts, including solicitation of consultant proposals, preparation of client proposals, and project budget oversight.
  • Ensure high productivity levels by directing and monitoring project teams.
  • Oversee workflow scheduling, staff management, and time-sheet reviews.
  • Prepare workload and staffing projections across regions (US, UK, China).
  • Collaborate on RFP responses and fee proposal generation.
  • Coordinate with global operations and financial teams on budgets, invoices, billing, and account receivables.
  • Support business development initiatives.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings and mentor staff.
  • Ensure consistently high production and quality standards across all design and contract documents in collaboration with the Global Director of Operations.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for major projects.
  • Build strong client relationships and secure repeat business through successful project outcomes.
Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture (preferred).
  • Minimum of 20 years of professional experience, ideally in a landscape architecture firm or related field, with a focus on project and team management.
  • Expertise in quality assurance and quality control processes, including construction documentation and administration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience reviewing shop drawings and overseeing construction administration.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Office Suite, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD).
  • Proven ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
