We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our Family Law/Matrimonial Department in Lake Success, NY.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Family Law Paralegal to provide essential support to our Family Law/Matrimonial Department. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a paralegal or legal administrative assistant role, with a focus on family law matters. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting attorneys in various stages of case management, document preparation, client interaction, and court filings.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a paralegal or legal administrative assistant role, with a focus on family law matters. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting attorneys in various stages of case management, document preparation, client interaction, and court filings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and draft motions, pleadings, judgments, statements, and other legal documents (including debt and asset lists, child support worksheets, responsive pleadings, etc.).
- Serve as a liaison between clients and attorneys, conducting client interviews as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of trial notebooks and provide support during trial settings, as required (including in-person support).
- Manage and review discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests.
- Maintain detailed case calendars using Outlook, scheduling and coordinating client and attorney meetings as needed.
- Prepare and file court documents, including e-filing in Family Court (both state and federal courts), and track court dates and deadlines.
- Review bank statements and financial records in the context of family law matters.
- Maintain organized filing systems for client files and case documentation.
- Handle the service of pleadings and discovery documents.
- Plan and coordinate appointments, events, and meetings for attorneys and clients.
- Respond to inbound telephone calls and other client communications.
- Assist with conflict checks, opening new client matters, and submitting electronic approvals as needed.
- Perform other administrative tasks and ad hoc projects as required.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Administrative Assistant, preferably within Family Law.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Strong knowledge of family law, including relevant court procedures and documentation.
- Experience with e-filing in Family Court and managing court dates and deadlines.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal software (Westlaw, ProLaw, etc.).
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a high caseload in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid experience with financial document review, including bank statements and financial disclosures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff.
- Ability to work proactively and effectively under pressure, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and discretion.
