This role involves setting up and operating a slitting machine to convert materials, such as plastic or paper, into finished rolls of specified length, dimensions, and unwind configuration. It also requires strict adherence to health and safety guidelines, as well as using sound judgment to ensure safe operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Transport rolls to the slitting machine using a forklift.
  • Use pallet jacks to position rolls on the machine carriage.
  • Remove the outer layer of material from the roll to eliminate contamination, then splice the film together.
  • Adjust the machine to meet processing specifications.
  • Press buttons to initiate the machine's operation.
  • Inspect and measure the first panels released from the machine to ensure correct alignment, using a tape measure and comparing the material to the proof and specification sheet.
  • Perform all necessary quality checks and complete required paperwork, ensuring proper signatures.
  • Start the machine and conduct visual inspections of the rolls to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Wrap individual rolls in protective film and assemble them into specified shipping units.
  • Execute inventory control and associated paperwork functions.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and well-organized.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and computer skills.
  • Display punctuality, attention to detail, and reliability.
  • Maintain courteous and respectful behavior with coworkers.
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
Required Training:

  • Basic safety training.
  • Forklift operation and safety protocols.
  • Procedure compliance training.
  • BRC awareness and quality objectives.
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
